Operation Kinder transport
As part of Operation Kinder transport during world war two, hundreds of Jewish children were given refuge at Gwrych Castle. The facilities were extremely basic, with no running water or electricity, as the castle was not connected to the main water and electricity supplies, and no fuel was available for the generators. The children left Gwrych only after the war had ended, when land in the newly created state of Israel became available.

Can anybody help?
I have just come across your web site whilst doing some online research. My father arrived at Gwyrch Castle from Germany in around 1939 c/o kinder transport. His name is David Stern from Elberfeld/Dusseldorf and we would love to make contact with anyone who was there at that time. Is there anyway of doing this? I would be happy for my email address to be forwarded to whomever you are in contact with.
Kind regards and many thanks,
Nadia Stern
