What is the Castle Trust?
In 1997 ASFOG (A Society For the Friends of Gwrych) was founded by Mark Baker and in 2001 it changed its name to Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust and became a registered charity. The Trust had been founded to raise awareness of Gwyrch’s plight and also to establish a solution for the conservation and preservation of the castle. Through much hard work, a huge amount has been achieved and the profile of the castle has been significantly raised with supporters from all over the globe.
So far, through continual monitoring, the Trust has been instrumental in overseeing developments with the guidance of many National Organisations. The Trust has sought the backing of the Local Authority, who assisted in securing the building in conjunction with CADW. By leading a high profile publicity campaign, public lectures, exhibitions and establishing the Gwrych Castle Trust Archive, the Trust has been placed in a prominent position both nationally and locally. Today, the Trust’s principal aim is to support the restoration and preservation of the castle, together with documenting the estate’s history. Interested individuals can join the Gwrych Castle Trust, and become a part of its ever continuing story.
Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust is one of the largest Building Preservation Trusts in the UK and seeks to promote and protect vulnerable sites of historic and archaeological interest. Please consider joining the Trust, help make our voice louder.
The Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust is a registered charity. Members of the public should be aware that the charity has an officially registered address and that no other address or body is authorised to conduct work on behalf of the Trust.
Please contact the Trust via the official Trust web site for membership details at gcpt@btopenworld.com (please write ‘Gwrych Castle’ somewhere in the subject line).
